In 1997, when jacques reynaud died suddenly, the management and running of the estates were entrusted to emmanuel, his nephew, who had already been running the domaine des tours, where he had created the winery and developed marketing since 1989. Today, emmanuel reynaud runs all three estates with the help of his employees. More than a myth, Château Rayas is a reality: a unique terroir in the Chât... eauneuf-du-Pape appellation, where sand plays a decisive role in the wine's profile. Emmanuel reynaud took over the estate after the death of his uncle, jacques. He put the vineyard back on its feet, without deviating from the spirit of the time: predominantly Grenache grapes, very ripe, vinified simply in whole bunches, then aged in old foudres. Here, refinement and elegance are cultivated. Difficult to understand when young, rayas takes on its full scope with age. Far from producing over-concentrated wines with demonstrative oak, emmanuel reynaud perpetuates the estate's singularity by being even more precise in defining the cru. The appellation Châteauneuf-du-Pape is part of the region of Vallée du Rhône from France which include Château Rayas and its 8 cuvées. Spread over The Rhone Valley and its rich, complex terroirs. The region is divided into two distinct subregions: Northern Rhone (known as Rhône Septentrional) and Southern Rhone (Rhône Méridional). In the former we find strong wines in beautiful colours with warm, spicy notes, produced by vineyards that stretch 4,700 ha along the Rhone. The latter, with an area of 71,000 ha, is much more important, and this is evident of course in its annual production of red, rosé and white wines quite unlike those of the Northern Rhone., this region is 3 million hectolitres per year of red wines, rosés, dry and sparkling white wines, and natural sweet wine..
