The winemaker
The Domaine du Grand Saint Julien has been in the Reynaud family since 1850. Located at the southernmost tip of the Ventoux A.O.P. area, it lies in the heart of the Luberon Regional Nature Park. 50 km east of Avignon, just across from the Colorado Provençal known for its multicolored ochre quarries.
Since childhood, Bertrand Reynaud had spent his vacations in the region, near Apt, and from there was born the desire to come and live in Provence on family property.
After examining the various farming possibilities, and the potential of the land, it became clear that vines were the crop best suited to these properties.
In the early eighties, our aspiring winemaker, fresh from his oenology degree, decided to combine the properties and develop a vineyard.
Today, the vineyard covers around 70 hectares.
Since the end of 2022, Bertrand's eldest daughter, Clémence, and her partner, Patrick, have joined the adventure to develop and maintain the estate within the family.
