The winemaker

The Cellier des Chartreux cooperative

The Cellier des Chartreux cooperative was created by a handful of winegrowers in Sauveterre. It later moved to the village of Pujaut, straddling the Languedoc and Provence regions.

Le Cellier des Chartreux currently brings together 81 winegrowers who bring their specificity and creativity to the community. The vineyards are divided between AOC Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages Laudun, Cru Lirac, Tavel and vins de pays du Gard.

Les Terroirs du Cellier des Chartreux

Les Terroirs de Pujaut

The Pujaut AOC vineyard produces Côtes-du-Rhône and Côtes-du-Rhône Villages wines. Thanks to the clay-limestone plateau and Châteauneuf-du-Pape-type galets roulés, these areas feature clay-limestone soils of varying depths that give rise to dense, elegant wines for laying down.

The plain of Pujaut is made up of very chalky clay loam soil, which gives it its distinctive white color. This shallow soil is ideally suited to the production of highly aromatic white and rosé wines, always offering great freshness.

The Terroir of Saint Gervais

The Saint Gervais terroir was founded on the banks of the Cèze valley by the Romans. Saint Gervais is the northernmost part of the Cellier des Chartreux terroir. Located 40 kilometers north of Pujaut, the vines grow later in the season. Its red wines are ripe and dense. However, their power allows freshness to express itself on the palate.

The Tavel Cru

Tavel's Terroir is rather varied. The Cellier des Chartreux portion is located on the Beauchamp terroir, which is made up of sandy soils, as well as on the Vallongue plateau, renowned for its Châteauneuf du Pape-like soil of rolled pebbles. Blends using grapes from these two soil types give rise to a ripe, fruity Tavel Cru, which retains exceptional freshness and remarkable balance on the palate.

Cru Lirac

Cellier des Chartreux's Cru Lirac vines are located in the commune of Roquemaure. The soil is characterized by clay-limestone, including rolled pebbles. The ripeness of the grapes from this vineyard results in the production of great red wines for laying down.
