The winemaker

The Winery

Clos Mireille is one of the family's estates, acquired by Marcel Ott in the 1930s. The property extends over exceptional terroirs, schist soils with a clay soil, but without limestone.
The privileged location of the property also gives it a unique microclimate. At the foot of the hills, the lands open to the Mediterranean benefit from gentle winds, sea spray, dry air and strong sunshine. They offer unique wines with subtle aromas.

The producer

Marcel Ott is at the origin of this family adventure. This agricultural engineer originally from Alsace was seduced by the potential of vineyards in Provence, at a time when phylloxera was ravaging French wine estates. At the beginning of the 20th century, he acquired several estates at advantageous prices, but had to replant the vines. With the will to produce great wines, he rigorously selects the noblest grape varieties and focuses on quality above all.
Thus, in addition to the Clos Mireille, the Ott family owns two other exceptional wine estates: the Château de Selle, near Draguignan and the Château Romassan in the Bandol appellation.
Managed today by Christian and Jean François Ott, the Ott estates have been part of the Louis Roederer federation since 2004, which brings together artisans of great wines.
Ott wines are sold in exclusive bottles, designed in the 1930s by René Ott and inspired by the pure and slender lines of the Provencal landscape. This bottle in the shape of an ancient amphora is recognizable at first glance and remains a signature of Ott wines.

The wines

The Clos Mireille Coeur de Grain rosé is made from a majority of Grenache, blended with Cinsault and Syrah. It is a fresh and round wine, with a nose offering an aromatic bouquet blending mango, melons and citrus notes.

Blanc de blancs is a singular cuvée, made from an atypical grape variety in the Mediterranean, Semillon. Originally from the Bordeaux vineyards, it nevertheless thrives on this exceptional Mediterranean terroir. Blended with Rolle and then aged in oak barrels, this unique and elegant white wine is distinguished by marked aromas of exotic fruits and ripe fruits, with floral notes.

The 2020 Star Cuvée is a gourmet rosé made from a blend of the best of the three Ott estates, with 20% Mourvèdre and 80% Grenache. It is a fresh wine with character, with aromas of exotic fruit, citrus, tangerine peel and pepper. It has a saline finish typical of the maritime influence brought by the grape varieties and terroir of Clos Mireille.
