The history of Domaine Alloïs

The Busi family settled in Boisset, belonging to the commune of Caseneuve, three generations ago. Paul and Rosalie Busi had come from Italy to work as workers in a charcoal exploitation and fell in love with this part of the Luberon, on the outskirts of the Moure Nègre, the highest point of the Luberon massif rising to 1,125 meters above sea level.

Paul and Rosalie decided to settle permanently on French soil and began by acquiring some land. Starting from nothing, it took them a lot of courage and hard work to shape what would become Domaine Alloïs. The first plantations date back to 1969.

Paul and Rosalie's son, Pierre, continued the work of his parents by developing the estate, with the help of his wife Brigitte. Initially divided between their large flock of sheep and the vineyards, they later decided to concentrate solely on viticulture.

It was then François' turn to inherit the farm, but also the good sense of the peasantry and the knowledge of the land. Before taking over the domain from his parents, François trained in the work of the vine in various regions of France and more particularly in Burgundy.

To clearly mark his desire to make his terroir a family affair, he baptized the Domaine Alloïs in 2008, contracting the names of his children Alexandre, Éloïse and Attilio.

The Domaine Alloïs vineyard

The Domaine Alloïs is conducted in organic agriculture. Everything is done to respect nature and biodiversity. François Busi pays particular attention to the planetary and lunar cycles that punctuate the agricultural work schedule.

The Domaine Alloïs is nestled in the heart of the Luberon Park, less than three-quarters of an hour from Avignon and one hour from Aix en Provence. It extends over 25 hectares, with vines planted between 350 and 450 meters of altitude. They face the Mourre Nègre and belong to the protected appellation.

Domaine Alloïs lists 11 different grape varieties, planted according to the characteristics of each plot, in order to take advantage of optimal conditions. The vineyard is composed of 10 hectares of Syrah, 9 hectares of Grenache Noir and the rest of the vines are shared between Merlot, Muscat de Hambourg, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Clairette, Viognier, Vermentino, Marsanne and Mourvèdre.

Domaine Alloïs has three distinct terroirs :
- The Devens Terroir : stony clay and limestone ;
- The Terroir of Aumades : very clayey Caseneuve marl ;
- Le Terroir de la Tour de Leris : sandy clay.
