The winemaker

The terroir of Château Saint-Roux

The vineyards of Château Saint-Roux cover 40 hectares in the heart of the Var. The name of Château Saint-Roux comes from the color of its soil, which displays orange and ruddy highlights.

The vines benefit from a very rich soil. There are iron and bauxite, essential nutrients that allow the vines to give their best. They act as a catalyst and multiply the aromas of the berries.

The vineyard of Château Saint-Roux is located in a windy corridor. The vines are beaten by this powerful wind, and thus dried and sanitized. This allows them to be naturally protected from diseases that are driven away by the air current. No need to add chemical pesticides and the vineyard can then be cultivated in Organic Agriculture.

In addition to vines grown without chemicals, the winemaking of Chateau Saint-Roux wines is made from natural and local yeasts. The objective is to reflect the expression of the terroir as faithfully as possible, at the same time as intensifying the complexity of the aromas.

The work on the acclimatization of the grape varieties at Château Saint-Roux

The Château Saint-Roux cultivates different grape varieties and participates in an experiment conducted in conjunction with the Var Chamber of Agriculture. It consists in cultivating an experimental plot, in order to analyze the behavior of different grape varieties.

The selection contains southern grape varieties that are already very resistant to drought: Mourvèdre gris and blanc, Touriga nacional, Calabrese and Mavrud. The goal is to observe their resistance to global warming.

The wines of Château Saint-Roux

Friponne - Rosé de Pays des Maures du Château Saint-Roux

Friponne evokes a certain lightness and this very fresh rosé from Château Saint-Roux reflects the simplicity of the estate, as much as its authenticity. It is a blend of Grenache Noir, Cinsault, Viognier, Marselan, Merlot and Nielluccio.

This wine from the Pays des Maures is powerfully aromatic, with a very strong presence of white fruits. It is supple and round, always balanced. The nose is also imbued with white fruits.

Château Saint-Roux's Cuvée Friponne rosé is perfect for your summer aperitifs in the garden. Its indigenous yeasts give it a depth that encourages you to save it for dinner, alongside grilled meats or sardines a la plancha.

La Guinguette - Extra Brut Sparkling Rosé Wine

La Guinguette is the sparkling rosé wine of Château Saint-Roux. Its fine and delicate bubbles give it a lively and fresh taste. The nose is rich in fruity notes, dominated by red fruits, especially raspberries. The finish chips away at some mentholated notes that add to its freshness.

La Guinguette sparkling wine accompanies your aperitifs, as well as your desserts, for example with a raspberry coulis, a fruit salad or a strawberry tart.
