The winemaker
The history of Château Roubine
Recognized since the early 14th century, Château Roubine belonged to the Templar Order and was ceded to the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, before becoming, in the 15th century, the Château making the pride of various great Provencal families.
After the French Revolution, the estate was divided up, and in the early 19th century came into the hands of the Allaman family, who sold it in the 1850s to Anne Leclerc de Juigné de Lassigny. Today, after various inheritances, the estate is owned by Valérie Rousselle of Var, who took over ownership of the Château in 1994. The estate entered a new chapter in its history.
The vineyard
On a 130-hectare parcel, the vineyard is farmed on 72 hectares, benefits from cutting-edge technology in terms of oenology and scrupulously applies the rules of sustainable agriculture.
In the heart of the Var and bordered by pines and oaks, the vineyard offers high-quality production thanks to its thirteen grape varieties, natural drainage, east/west orientation and clay-limestone soil.
Each year, the vineyard produces several cuvées of white, red and rosé wine, as well as Champagne, and almost all carry the "Agriculture Biologique" label. The vineyard's wide range of wines means that there's no shortage of food pairings to choose from. Whether accompanying seafood, vegetables or meats, there's always a wine from the vineyard to satisfy the needs and desires of even the most discerning palate.
Valérie Rousselle
Since the arrival of Valérie Rousselle at the head of the estate, the owner has been working to develop wine tourism in her region. To this end, she has set up guest rooms in charming gîtes, wine tastings and cellar tours, as well as art exhibitions.
She also posts all the latest news about her estate and the region on her website. The château's owner is also committed to selling her bottles directly on her site, and the digitalization of the château gives it both touristic and commercial strength, positioning it as an avant-garde château in the face of others that have stuck to more epochal models.
Nestled between lavender and olive trees, in the heart of Provence, this château is steeped in history and makes the most of its land to produce quality wine to serve at the table of every connoisseur of fine wine. The château's digitalization and state-of-the-art oenological infrastructure mean that it can still look forward to a bright future.
