Appellation Rosé d'Anjou

Discovery of the AOC Rosé-d'Anjou

The Rosé-d'Anjou appellation can be produced throughout the Anjou AOC, which represents 2400 hectares. The parcels are mainly located in Maine-et-Loire, with a few belonging to Deux-Sèvres and La Vienne.

The appellation's rosé wines are produced from grolleau, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, gamay, côt and pineau d'Aunis. The vines benefit from a temperate oceanic climate, relatively dry, often associated with the "mildness of Anjou".

Two types of soil characterise the Rosé-d'Anjou AOC, black schist soils and white chalk soils.

Anjou rosé wine tasting

The rosés of the appellation have a rapeberry colour, quite brilliant, crossed with cherry-coloured reflections. The nose is very marked by red fruits, notably redcurrant, strawberry and raspberry. The wine also reveals scents of English candy and rose. On the palate, the red fruit flavours continue, accompanied by minty and peppery notes. So this is a slightly pearly wine, very fresh and fruity.

Anjou rosé is a very summery wine. It is ideal as an aperitif, with fine charcuterie, tarts and quiches with sunny vegetables, gougères... It also goes very well with grilled meats, sweet and sour salads and exotic cuisine.
