Orléans is a little-known appellation. Yet this clos saint-fiacre orléans rouge is a real treat. This is a rare loire wine, dominated by pinot meunier, a grape variety that complements chardonnay and pinot noir in champagne. This 2020 is a beauty: brilliant ruby color, intense nose with aromas of crunchy red fruit. The palate is greedy, well-structured, with spicy notes. Lovely, silky tannins. 80% pinot meunier, 20% pinot noir. Vines averaging 20 years old, cultivated using sustainable methods. Sandy-gravel terroir on sandy-clay subsoil. Aged in stainless steel vats.
