The winemaker

This figurine once sat on the roof of the medieval Château Des Places in Savigny-en-Véron, owned in the 17th century by admiral and governor of Acadia Claude de Launay-Razilly. Legend has it that, nostalgic for his past naval conquests, the admiral had this weathervane installed on his property. The house is said to have welcomed King Charles VII on several occasions. La Halbardière, where the winery is located, was one of the Château's tenant farms.
