The winemaker
The Loire Valley is divided into several terroirs: Région Nantaise, Anjou-Saumur, Touraine and Centre. Domaine Olga Raffault is located in the Touraine region. Both sides of the Loire, north and south, are dominated by AOP Chinon, Bourgueil, Cheverny and Vouvray wines.
Olga Raffault's "passion for wine" is the driving force behind this estate cradled between the Loire and Vienne rivers. The surface area planted with vines here extends to almost 24 ha, and the average age of the wines is around 40. The wines produced by Domaine Olga Raffault show great sweetness, free from exuberance. They are both velvety and perfumed, a taste no doubt resulting from the well-exploited clay-limestone soils. Some are tenderly fruity. Others evolve with finesse and voluptuousness. The cuvée Les Picasses calcaires remains the emblematic product of this estate in the Véron region.
Most of the wines produced are Chinon reds and rosés, made from single-vineyard Cabernet Franc. For reds, the cuvées Les Peuilles and Les Picasses, a long-ageing wine, are to be preferred. Production of single-varietal Chenin Chinon Blanc is more limited.
