The winemaker

The producer

Still in the family of its founders, the estate is managed today by Noël Pinguet, Gaston's son-in-law.

Natural, environmentally-friendly practices are favored at every stage of vineyard care and production. The estate is one of the pioneers of biodynamic viticulture, implemented in 1988. The aim is to preserve and enrich the quality of the soil, to bring out the best in the vines and thus produce wines of character, authentic, expressing all the beauty of their terroirs.

Harvesting is done the "old-fashioned way", with bunches picked when ripe, in successive passes. The aim is to pick the ripe, healthy grapes, but this also allows us to pick berries affected by "noble rot".

Vinification is carried out separately for each cru, and pressing is gentle. Cold fermentation takes place exclusively in used barrels, and bottling does not take place until the following spring.

Grape variety and terroir

Domaine Huet is planted with a single grape variety, Chenin, on terroirs with a variety of soils: sandy-clay, stony, chalky-clay and limestone.

Le Haut-Lieu is Domaine Huet's historic parcel. It covers 9 hectares of deep brown clay soil. Cuvées made from Haut-Lieu vines are distinguished by their freshness and fruity flavors.

Clos du Bourg is one of the Premiers Crus of the Vouvray appellation and one of its oldest vineyards. Owned by the Huet family since 1953, its clay-limestone soils produce deep, dense wines for ageing, which are very tasty when enjoyed young.

Le Mont was the last parcel acquired by the family in 1957. This stony, green-clay soil lends a beautiful minerality and freshness to its wines.

The wines

The dry white wines express all the beauty of Domaine Huet's terroirs, from the fruity flavors of the Haut-Lieu vines to the mineral expression of Mont or the roundness of Clos du Bourg.

Le Blanc Demi-sec du Domaine de Huet a complex, airy wine, in which natural acidity and sugar find a subtle balance with great harmony.

Les Blancs Moelleux are elegant, rich wines with good ageing potential. Cuvée Constance is made from the richest, most concentrated juices from Domaine Huet's three parcels. It is produced only in the best vintages and in small quantities, making it a truly rare nectar.

The banc Pétillant du Domaine Huet is a cuvée for gourmets, with fine bubbles. It's not too aggressive and wonderfully expresses the fleshy side of Chenin. Aged in the estate's galleries beneath the tuffeau stone, it is kept on laths for three years to allow the aromas to refine gently and take on their full character.
