The winemaker

The story of a family passion

As early as 1890, Louis Daheuiller began wine production on his 4 hectares of vines. He passed this passion on to his son, and so it continues to this day. Today, the Domaine de Varinelles boasts 42 hectares of vines, most of which are over 35 years old (and some over a century old!). Since the middle of the century, the estate has been renowned for its wines, which are served on the finest Parisian tables. Modern and turned towards organic farming, the estate remains more than ever attached to this family passion.

A rich terroir, varied and ancient vineyards

Cabernet franc, Chardonnay and Chenin share the farm's 42 hectares, which are farmed organically. Many of the plots are planted on sites with excellent reputations in the heart of the Saumur-Champigny appellation, and some are up to 60 years old.

The wines of Domaine des Varinelles

Crémant de Loire blanc: made with 100% Chardonnay, it matures for 36 months in the cellar. Rich and aromatic, it is the centerpiece of a successful aperitif or seafood meal.
Crémant de Loire rosé: a rarity in the region, as it incorporates Pinot noir grapes. A surprisingly fruity aperitif.
"L'ingénue", Saumur white: from very old vines, it ferments for a long time in 400-liter barrels, developing an impressive aromatic richness typical of Chenin.
"Larivale", Saumur Champigny: an occasional selection of the oldest vines, only in great vintages, with ageing in new oak barrels.
"1900", Saumur Champigny: from two vineyards planted at the beginning of the 20th century on an exceptional terroir, aged for over 36 months in earthen amphorae, this wine is exceptionally structured and aromatic.
"Laurientale", Saumur Champigny: a wine of uncommon power in the Loire Valley, bursting with sunshine and fruit, ideal for spicy dishes and desserts with character.
"Laurigine", Saumur Champigny: emblematic of the appellation, this wine has been made on a model of balance unchanged for five generations.
"Les cinq", Saumur Champigny: this is an original blend of grape varieties grown on different plots aged between 60 and 80 years. After 12 to 16 months in barrel, it is best enjoyed after four years in bottle. To the top
