The winemaker

The Tabourelles estate taken in hand by a woman winemaker

For over 100 years, the Germain family has owned the Tabourelles estate. That's the equivalent of 5 generations of winemakers handing down the secrets of the estate's vines. Anne Josseau, a proud descendant of the Germains, took over the family estate in 2009 and now runs it alone.

With the help of her brother-in-law, she has created a highly original wine tourism business. They discovered the entrance to troglodyte galleries on the property and decided to explore and exploit their potential. After a year in the making, "Troglo Degusto" was born. Visitors have the chance to tour the 35 km of underground galleries before tasting the estate's wines in a special setting.

The Tabourelles estate is cultivated according to its specific terroir

With its 20 hectares, Domaine des Tabourelles is a representative of the famous Loire Valley wine region. The estate's soil is composed of clay and limestone over layers of tuffeau. This allows the vine roots to take root deeply, giving the wine stable, persistent aromas. The Cher Valley's low rainfall and abundant sunshine produce grapes that are concentrated in taste and sugar.

Anne Josseau cultivates her vines to achieve moderate yields and limit the use of chemicals. The estate is certified Terra Vitis, a rigorous label certifying respect for nature and people.

The Tabourelles estate, a representative of the Chenonceaux appellation

The Touraine appellation is an important one in the Loire Valley. Touraine-Chenonceaux is a geographical denomination created in 2011 and carried by a majority of women to highlight their unique and complex terroir. Sauvignon Blanc is grown here for aromatic, floral single-varietal white wines. As for the red wine, it's generous and fruity thanks to its composition based on côt and cabernet.
