Domaine de Terrebrune

4.1
(70 customer reviews)
Domaine Terrebrune is located in Anjou, in the heart of the Loire Valley. Well-known for its gentle vineyards, Anjou offers the Loire Valley's most diverse range of wines, in both color and flavor: dry or sweet rosés, reds or sweet reds, dry or sweet white wines and, of course, sparkling wines. Our 57-hectare vineyard extends over the communes of Notre Dame d'Allençon, Luigné Thouarcé, Vauchrétien and Brissac, some of the most beautiful areas in the Anjou region. With quality in mind, we manage our entire production chain, from harvesting to bottling. Find out more

The winemaker

A Loire estate

Domaine de Terrebrune took root in 1986 in the heart of the Loire Valley, at Notre Dame d'Allençon in Anjou. The vineyard covers 55 hectares and produces red, rosé and white wines.

Specializing in the production of sweet wines (Coteaux du Layon, Bonnezeaux, Coteaux d'Aubance), the estate cultivates its vines on late-harvest slopes. Like the rest of the region, the vineyard's king grape variety is Chenin. Chenin, a.k.a. Pinot de la Loire, is ideal for making sweet white wines with a powerful mouthfeel and floral aromas.

Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are used to make red wines, which are equally suited to the production of supple, fruity wines and rich, full-bodied wines.

For rosés, Grolleau and Gamay take pride of place, thanks to their fresh, fruity character and citrus notes. When blended, they produce both soft, candy-like rosés and dry, lively ones.

The vineyards here favor regional grape varieties, so that vine and terroir achieve the best harmony. In addition, the estate has been awarded Haute Valeur Environnementale certification, a sign of its winemakers' commitment to preserving the terroir and surrounding nature.

The wines

The Coteaux du Layon offers a light color that darkens with age. On the nose, there's a bouquet of yellow fruit, honey and flowers. On the palate, the wine is long and fragrant, with yellow fruit, honey and good body. Typically Chenin, there's also a little tension that brings elegant balance.

The Cabernet d'Anjou stands out for its salmon-pink color and fruity nose with raspberry and redcurrant bouquet. On the palate, the wine is aromatic and fruity, elegant and round, offering a balanced and refreshing body.

Cuvée Anjou Rouge "collection n°1" has a bright ruby color and a nose of red fruits. Its round, tender body is balanced between silky tannins and balsamic aromas.
