The winemaker

Domaine de l'R stretches across a vast gravel plain on the right bank of the Vienne, in the heart of the Chinon appellation. Frédéric Sigonneau, the winemaker, returned to Touraine in 2004 after an initiatory journey that took him as far as Spain. In 2007, he founded his estate on the remains of the family estate in Cravant les Coteaux. From the outset, he chose to grow his Cabernet Franc organically, favoring a culture free from herbicides and insecticides, where the land is treated mainly with copper and and sulfur. At harvest time, the grapes are picked by hand and transported in crates. In the cellar, the grapes are vatted by gravity, with short pump-overs and indigenous yeasts.
