The winemaker

The producer

Jacky Blot is a passionate winegrower, considered one of the best winemakers in the region. He has received numerous awards for his wines, and the Bettane et Desseauve guide has awarded him 5 stars, the highest rating. He has done much to promote the Montlouis and Vouvray appellations.

When he acquired the estate in 1992, his ambition was to produce the highest-quality, purified organic wines. The beginnings weren't easy, and the production methods he chose meant a high selling price, but he gradually managed to win the loyalty of a private clientele. Over time, the small original estate was enlarged by the acquisition of terroirs that seemed promising.

A follower of traditional practices and sustainable agriculture, his priority is to use know-how that respects the balance of natural environments, such as ploughing the vines to limit the use of chemicals and encourage deep rooting. Sorting is done in the rows, but also in the cellar and on the sorting table. Harvesting is done by hand, and yields are controlled to ensure optimum quality.

Jacky Blot implemented these practices at a time when they were considered unconventional. The wine is aged in the region's typical demi-muid, with a preference for oak barrels. The wine is then stored in cellars dug into the rock.

The estate

The vineyard covers 25 hectares, 5 of which are in the Vouvray appellation and 20 in the Montlouis sur Loire appellation. The average age of the estate's vines is between 70 and 80 years. The winery has been completely renovated.

The property is situated on limestone bedrock, the soil is clay-siliceous and the slopes slope southwards. A single grape variety is grown, Chenin blanc, also known as Pineau de Loire.

The wines

Domaine de la Taille aux Loups offers elegant white wines that age well.

Clos de Mosny is a well-deserved, long-keeping wine that shows its full potential after a few years in the cellar. Made from very old vines and an exceptional terroir, it is the perfect accompaniment to the finest cheeses, a vegetable tian or fish à la plancha.

Montlouis Tradition is a fine, elegant sparkling wine. Bretonnière is a fresh, slender Vouvray with citrus notes. Romulus is an intense sweet wine with floral aromas and long-lasting fruitiness.

Triple zero is the vineyard's top-of-the-range cuvée. It's a natural, complex sparkling wine, worthy of an excellent champagne. It's ideal as an aperitif, with its notes of ripe fruit.
