The winemaker
Today, we know the 6th generation DELANOUE Winemakers in Ereau at BENAIS. Indeed, our ancestors came from Maine et Loire (neighboring department) in the year 1875. The first settled as jobbers in the farm still present today who depended on a bourgeois family living a few blocks away. Later their descendants gradually bought land and buildings to be completely independent. The last parcels were purchased in the 1950s by Jean DELANOUE (4th generation). Until 1976, the vineyard was only a quarter of the activity, complemented by growing green beans, tobacco, vine nurseries, cereal ... When John Paul DELANOUE settled in 1976, solely dedicated to growing grapes and nursery with subsequent installation of his brother Michael at her side. Thus, until 1987, nurseries allowed to expand in the area at low cost areas. The vineyard area which was only 3 hectares developed to reach today 43 hectares of Cabernet Franc on the AOC Bourgueil & Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil.
