The winemaker

The History of Domaine de La Grange

Domaine de La Grange takes its name from an old tithe barn that was completely restored by the Genty family, owners of the family estate for 4 generations. The tithe barn is a building that lends itself well to adaptation for wine making: during the Ancien Régime, it was used to store the collection of the tithe, a tax in favor of the Catholic Church, which was mostly made up of agricultural revenues. The renovation of the barn has fully respected the originality of Solognot barns.

The Domaine de La Grange is located in the heart of the Loire Valley, at the gateway to the Domaine de Chambord. It is also close to many Loire Valley castles: Cheverny at 14 kilometers, Villesavin at 7 kilometers, Blois at 11 kilometers and Amboise at 60 kilometers.

Today, the Domaine de La Grange belongs to Guy Genty and his son Stéphane.

The Domaine de La Grange vineyard

The Domaine de La Grange vineyard covers 18 hectares of vines. Its grape varieties are Sauvignon, Chardonnay for the White Cheverny; Pinot noir, Gamay and Côt for the production of the Red Cheverny. The Romorantin grape variety is reserved for making the wines of the small AOC Cour Cheverny.

The AOC Cheverny and the AOC Cour Cheverny represent 2 very distinct AOCs:
- AOC Cheverny extends its production over 24 communes and 400 hectares of vines. The vineyard counts about forty producers and 1 cooperative.
- the AOC Cour Cheverny uses only the Romorantin grape variety. It represents 52 hectares of vines for 11 communes.

The wines of Domaine de La Grange

AOC Cheverny Blanc

AOC Cheverny Blanc offers a brilliant pale yellow color. Made from a blend of Sauvignon and Chardonnay, the wine expresses notes of citrus and blackcurrant. Its fresh and elegant palate finishes beautifully, with a lemony flavor.

AOC Cheverny is also offered in red and rosé.

AOC Cour Cheverny "vieilles vignes"

Made from the oldest vines of the Domaine de La Grange, this wine is distinguished by its original mellowness, truly Solognot.

AOC Cour Cheverny

The AOC Cour Cheverny has a straw yellow color with golden reflections. Its nose reveals fruits with white flesh. Its mouth is round, ample and always balanced.

Crémant de Loire

The Crémant de Loire offers very fruity aromas, with fine bubbles that result from two years of work in the tufa cellars. It ideally expresses its elegance at 8°.

Traditional Rosé Method

The sparkling wine is aged alongside the crémant, for two years in the tufa cellars. It is distinguished by its freshness and the finesse of its bubbles and is also served at 18°.
