This old vineyard is divided into numerous terraced plots bounded by old stone walls, at the foot of the eastern flank of the Seranne mountain. On brown soils resting on limestone scree, old Grenache Noirs and a few Syrahs had gradually fallen into oblivion, too isolated from the other vineyards of the Languedoc hillsides. Other plots were no longer in use and were replanted. The local climate, Mediterranean but very particular due to the altitude and isolation of the valley between the causses of Selle (600 meters) and Larzac (800 meters), is humid and cold. As a result, the grapes ripen slowly and are not harvested until late September. The resulting wine deliberately combines power and freshness. This 2021 is a real beauty: racy and sappy, it gives pride of place to fruit while offering dense, deep tannins. Will age gracefully for a good ten years. 70% Syrah, 30% Grenache? Brown soil on limestone scree at the foot of the Seranne mountain. Slopes from 10 to 30%. Altitude 150 to 250 meters. Southeast exposure. Aged for 18 months, mostly in 300l and 400l barrels of medium-tall Allier oak (gradually renewed over 5 years), and partly in concrete vats.
