The winemaker

The choice of quality in the face of productivism

Olivier Jullien has worked to restore the prestige of Languedoc wines by relying on ancient viticultural practices. From the outset, he gave priority to producing high-end wines in limited quantities rather than large-scale production of lesser quality.

When Mas Jullien was founded, he turned to reasoned organic farming and a biodynamic approach. He then gave up certification to retain his freedom of choice in the management of his estate. However, he continues to implement practices that respect nature and biodiversity.

In this way, he has paved the way for many young winegrowers. He has shown the value of preserving ancient practices and proved that Languedoc terroirs can produce great wines. Today, he is unanimously recognized by experts as one of the region's finest winemakers.

An exceptional terroir

Olivier Jullien's strength lies in his ability to identify the best plots. He preserves terroirs by regularly saving promising old vines from uprooting and tirelessly seeking out the best soils.

His estate is composed of soils with varied subsoils: siliceous, marly, limestone and sandstone. He is also experimenting with planting numerous grape varieties on a variety of soils to find the harmonious combinations that will enable the production of balanced, complex wines.

Wines of excellence, distinguished by multiple awards

All connoisseurs agree that Mas Jullien produces wines of the highest quality, among the best in the French wine world. They have received numerous awards and distinctions. These wines, produced in small quantities, are certainly rare, but should be tasted at least once in a lifetime.

The Cuvée Coteaux du Languedoc in vintage 2012 is a red wine made from a blend of three grape varieties: Mourvèdre, Carignan and Syrah. The cuvée has good ageing potential and a class worthy of great wines, with aromas of licorice, black fruits, tobacco and spices.

The 2019 vintage has produced a rosé of character, with aromas of Morello cherries, red fruits with spicy and floral notes. It was made from Cinsault, Grenache and Mourvèdre grapes.

La cuvée Terrasses du Larzac, vintage 2012 is a wine of great terroir, made from old vines of Mourvèdre, Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. Its nose is deep, with aromas of tobacco, licorice and black fruits. It has been classified as a Languedoc premier cru.

The cuvée Mas Jullien- IGP Pays de L'Hérault vintage 2013 is a white wine with a fresh, pure palette with notes of fennel. It can be enjoyed young, but also improves greatly with age.
