The winemaker

Mas Baux is located in the south of the Occitanie region, close to the Mediterranean. The land has a long history of viticulture dating back to Roman times, alternating between periods of cultivation and abandonment. Today run by Serge Baux and his wife, Mas Baux offers organic wines in all three colors, and strives to produce authentic, powerful and elegant cuvées, reflecting all the beauty of this exceptional terroir.

The producer

In the heart of the garrigues, Mas Baux covers 20 hectares, 12.5 of which are devoted to vines. The Romans had already identified this exceptional terroir for wine production, and the first vines were planted here over 2000 years ago. Subsequently, the vineyard fell into disuse before being reborn in the 18th century when Mr. Durand bought the property and had the mas built.

Serge and Marie Pierre Baux became owners of the estate in the late 90s. Charmed by the soul of this unique place, they undertook extensive restoration work on the vineyard buildings and replanted the vineyard.

The estate

The exceptional location of the land, on a very high terrace of rolled pebbles and clay subsoil, provides a perfect climate for growing vines. High levels of sunshine, wind and sea spray combine to provide the vines with perfect growing conditions. High-quality grapes then produce exceptional wines, powerful and fruity with intense aromas, that express all the beauty of this terroir.

The estate is farmed organically to preserve nature and biodiversity. In addition to the vines, there are beehives, a permaculture vegetable garden and areas that encourage the presence of birds, insects and bats. The vineyard is planted with 70-year-old vines, and the grape varieties include Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Muscat Petit Grains and Cabernet Sauvignon. Yields are controlled in a constant quest for quality. Harvesting is carried out early in the morning until mid-day at the latest to preserve freshness. The wines are then aged in stainless steel vats or oak barrels, depending on the cuvée.

The wines

Rouge à lèvres is an elegant, rose-gold-tinged rosé wine from IGP Côtes Catalanes. It's a subtle, delicate cuvée with a palette of floral and vanilla flavors.

Baux Blond is a luminous dry white from IGP Côtes Catalanes. This 100% Muscat Petits Grains offers a highly seductive, complex aromatic bouquet with lime, pear, honeysuckle and candied citrus notes.

Loulou is a no-sulfite-added IGP Côtes Catalanes red, created to celebrate the birth of Louise, the couple's baby daughter. It's a fresh, intense, fruity wine with notes of red fruit, fresh fig lifted by nuances of licorice.

Soleil rouge is an AOP Côtes du Roussillon cuvée. It's a complex red wine with an aromatic palette blending vanilla, black fruit, hazelnut and spicy notes.
