The winemaker
It was during a visit to a friend in the Languedoc region in 2002 that we were struck by the majesty of the old vines, the diversity of grape varieties, soils, climate and terrain.
We felt that the full expression and potential of some of this region's terroirs had not been realized, so in 2003 we started our operation with 1.5 ha of vines in the Corbières Maritimes.
We hoped that by encouraging deep root growth in the vines, and improving soil biodiversity, we would see an expression of terroir in the wines that would guide our approach.
The following year, we expanded our vineyard by acquiring other small plots in the Corbières massif and on the schist slopes of the Agly valley.
As a result of our efforts, the almost lunar landscape where the vines originally grew was gradually transformed into an environment richer in color and life. Each year saw the return of plants and insects, and the soil structure seemed energized, suggesting that biological enrichment was also taking place in the soil. Now, the vines are beginning to find a balance within this new, more diverse environment.
Now in our 12th year of operation, we have 20 ha of vines cultivated according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. We have vines in three singular terroirs, each represented by a characteristic wine: Mire la Mer from the Corbières Maritimes, Prioundo from the Hautes Corbières, and L'Extrême from the Agly valley in the Roussillon.
Little by little, our wines have become more balanced, and while they are less fruity in character, they have developed greater complexity and a more pronounced expression of terroir.
We now possess a wealth of knowledge acquired during our short but busy existence. In the future, our intention is to expand and draw on our know-how, while moving forward with the same thirst for exploration and freshness as in our early days.
