The winemaker

Founded in 1968, the Roquebrun winery is located in the Parc Régional du Haut Languedoc, 30 km north of Béziers, between the two regional capitals of Montpellier and Toulouse. The village of Roquebrun benefits from an exceptional microclimate, enabling the cultivation of orange, lemon and mandarin trees in the open ground, producing a harvest of citrus fruit for local consumption. This mild climate has earned Roquebrun the nickname "the little Nice of the Hérault", making it one of the Orb Valley's most popular tourist destinations. This mild but relatively arid climate, combined with the acidic schist soils, allows the different grape varieties of the Saint-Chinian appellation to flourish, notably Carignan, an ancestral variety that claims its place on the arid slopes, as well as Grenache, which has also been present for a long time. Syrah and Mourvèdre, for other types of implantation, let their aromatic potential explode for the elaboration of products of recognized quality and typicity. We produce Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée Saint-Chinian, Coteaux du Languedoc and, since 2004, Appellation Saint-Chinian-Roquebrun wines, giving concrete expression to our distinctive character.
