The winemaker

Introduced to wine from an early age by his maternal grandfather, a winemaker in Anjou, Olivier Pithon fell into the world of wine as a child. His older brother, a winemaker in the Coteaux du Layon (Jo Pithon), set up his own winery when he was just 4 years old. From the age of 14, he worked in the vineyards. Sensitized to quality from an early age, he left his mother's land at the age of 18 to continue his training in the Bordeaux region. From experience to experience, five years passed working in the Bordeaux region (Saint-Émilion). At the end of 2000, he was drawn to Calce, in the Pyrénées-Orientales, as if there could be no other place where Olivier Pithon could experience this adventure. Old Carignan vines planted by a certain Saturne in 1940. Breathtaking views of the Mediterranean, the Corbières and the Pyrenees. Never in his young life would he have thought it possible: to have 8.5 hectares of old vines on schist slopes all to himself. For him, organic farming was a matter of course, a mark of respect, a demand for quality, a lifestyle choice. Irrational economically for a young company like his, but Olivier Pithon knows no other way than to be whole, generous and natural.
