The winemaker
La Croix Belle is a family estate that has been passed down from generation to generation since the late 18th century. This wine estate is located in the Languedoc, in the feudal village of Puissalicon, in the Cevennes regional park. It produces harmonious wines with a lot of balance and rich aromas, typical of these terroirs.
The estate is now run by Jacques and Françoise Boyer, they have been managing it since 1977. The couple has not only brought a new vision to this vineyard, but has also contributed to the revival of Languedoc wines.
Jacques and Françoise have replanted the estate, evolved the viticultural techniques used and reduced yields. They also improved the estate's facilities, including the winery, and implemented new winemaking methods. Each of these changes has been carefully thought out to make the most of this unique terroir and produce exceptional wines.
This historic wine estate is located on the slopes of the Cevennes, not far from the Mediterranean. The soils are made up of mixtures of silt, gravel clay, limestone and pebbles. They offer perfect conditions for growing vines and produce surprisingly balanced and harmonious wines.
These lands benefit from an exceptional microclimate, particularly adapted to the culture of the vine mixing the important sunshine proper to the south of France, Cevennes winds favoring the decrease of the temperatures at night and the sea spray because of the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea.
Domaine La Croix Belle offers ranges in all three colors.
The Caringole rosé is made from two grape varieties, Grenache and Syrah grown on clay-limestone soil. It is a cuvée with an intense nose with candy and rose aromas. The palate is fresh and offers acidulous notes. It is a wine suitable for accompanying a salad or Mediterranean dishes.
Le Champ des Lys is an elegant white made from a blend of Viognier for half and Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc and Sauvignon. This wine is ripe and complex with aromas of candied lemons, spicy notes and a long finish. It is a good choice for a meal of fish in sauce or scallops.
The estate also offers the "cépages" line, three cuvées each made with a unique grape variety.
Merlot is a cuvée in the IGP Côtes de Thongue appellation made from 15- to 20-year-old vines and produced from grapes harvested at full maturity. It is a full-bodied wine that gains its full expression after a few months of bottle ageing. It then offers a powerful mouthfeel with good length, aromas of cherry, ripe fruit and notes of cocoa.
Chardonnay is a mineral cuvée with a beautiful bright color with golden hues. It is an intense and fresh white wine with a fine mouthfeel. The nose is fruity with citrus aromas mixed with notes of dried fruits in which hazelnut and almond dominate. This is a vintage to choose to enjoy with fish in sauce, poultry cooked with cream or simply to open as an aperitif.
Syrah is a typically Mediterranean cuvée. There are silky tannins and a very harmonious fruity mouthfeel, which make it easy to drink, especially with meats, a charcuterie dish or spicy dishes. It is a red wine with a purple color. The nose is intense with notes of blackberries, coffee and hints of licorice.
