The winemaker

The history of Domaine Gayda

Domaine Gayda was built in 1749 as a coaching inn. It was a stopover where travelers could stretch their legs, while horses were changed so that they could rest alternately. Over time, Domaine Gayda grew from a simple coaching inn to a more luxurious property, with the addition of vineyards. Today, it's a winegrowing estate offering a wine tourism trail, with blending workshop, tasting, boutique and restaurant. Since 2004, owners Tim Ford and Anthony Record have teamed up with winemaker Vincent Chansault to build a high-quality vineyard.

The Domaine Gayda terroir

Domaine Gayda grows a variety of traditional Languedoc grape varieties. The most emblematic are Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. The geographical location and climatic influences of the Atlantic are ideal for these two grape varieties. Domaine Gayda stretches over 4 distinct terroirs from the Languedoc to the Roussillon, offering a wide diversity of soils and therefore of wines. The parcel selections offer very different soils: limestone, sandstone, granite or schist.

The 4 terroirs of Domaine Gayda

Domaine Gayda
Domaine Gayda's terroir culminates at an altitude of 200 meters. The soil is mainly composed of limestone sandstone. The vines face south-southwest. The grape varieties grown are : Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Chenin, Sauvignon and Viognier.

La Livinière
The Livinière vineyards are located at an altitude of between 200 and 260 meters. The limestone slopes face south and south-west. The grape varieties grown are : Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Carignan (Red) and Viognier.

Col de la Dona
Col de la Dona lies at an altitude of 160 meters, facing due south. This schist soil is dedicated to Syrah and Grenache.

Latour de France
The slopes of Latour de France rest on gneiss soil, at an altitude of 280 meters. The Syrah, Grenache and Carignan (Red) grape varieties face southwest.

The wines of Domaine Gayda

Domaine Gayda wines include several ranges: Villa Mon Rêve; Chemin de Moscou; Sélection; Figure Libre; Figure Libre Freestyle; En Passant; La Minuette; Collection; T'Air d'Oc; Flying Solo.

La Minuette du Domaine Gayda - Rosé

La Minuette du Domaine Gayda is composed of 70% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah and 15% Grenache. La Minuette embodies the values of the domaine, a blend of tradition and modernity. This range takes its name from a variety of rose, called Minuette, which Tim Ford, one of the owners of Domaine Gayda, cultivated for 25 years in Kenya, Africa. This rosé wine has a lovely freshness that emanates from the limestone terroir of La Livinière. Its pale color is reminiscent of the flesh of a pink grapefruit, whose aromas it evokes.
