The winemaker

Domaine Galtier is located 15km north of Béziers, between Murviel les Béziers and Causses et Veyran, on a plateau 120 m above sea level. The site has been occupied since Roman times, with the Domitian Way passing 500 meters from the estate. The current farmhouse is typically Languedoc, built in 1756 by the village doctor, with a square tower used as a dovecote, a rounded bread oven and cellars buried beneath the buildings. It is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation: umbrella pines, arbutus, rockroses, myrtles... Well-suited to the very dry, chalky soil. The estate came into the Galtier-Carbonne family in 1948, and was replanted and enlarged by Jean Carbonne's grandfather, who entrusted it to him in 1982. In 1996, Jean and his wife, Lise, decided to develop marketing under the name "Domaine Galtier". Lise Carbonne, an oenologist, modified the vineyard's grape varieties, modernized the cellar and created a sales cellar, as well as organizing summer outings in the vineyard.
