The winemaker
This picturesque village nestles in the heart of a magnificent cirque of high limestone cliffs. The site, close to the Mediterranean, is a Mecca for rock climbing and prehistory. The Arago cave, birthplace of Tautavel man, is just outside the village. The Vingrau valley is an oasis of vineyards lost in a mineral ocean where only the garrigue, pines and holm oaks manage to survive. It is to the latter that the estate owes its name. Whichever road you take to reach the village, you're surrounded by this fragrant nature that reigns supreme. Most of the Domaine's vines grow on hillsides interspersed with low dry-stone walls. The estate covers some 30 hectares spread over the best terroirs, at altitudes ranging from 120 to 350 m above sea level. The entire estate is classified as an appellation. Alain Razungles, a professor of oenology, is now at the head of the family domaine. He offers a wide range of wines: white, red, dry or sweet, all of which reflect the exceptional quality of the Vingrau terroir.
