The winemaker

The vines are planted on hillsides hillside facing the sea. They enjoy sea breezes loaded with moisture and limit the effects of the summer drought. Few spring frosts and mild temperatures promotes good grape ripening. The vines are protected from prevailing winds from the north and northwest (Cers or Tramontana) whose violence can cause damage on the branches when they are still tender. The 50 parcels that make up the vineyards are spread around the castle in a Mediterranean environment. pine forest scents mingle with those of the scrubland which grow oak, almond, olive, thyme, rosemary and cistus cottony. Our Vintages AOP Languedoc, Picpoul de Pinet and AOP AOP Languedoc "Grès de Montpellier" strongly affirm their identity Languedoc. This beautiful range of 18 varieties spread over a plot of fifty is aggregated and available to all our visitors by creating the heart of the domain of a "vine collection". On land adjacent to our cellars, already planted 150 olive trees are aligned thirty-six rows of vines, two for each variety of grape and we invite them to a pastoral and educational walk. By our choices and environmentally sustainable working methods, we produce high quality grapes while preserving the environment and human health. As such we are accredited TERRA VITIS. The estate was bought in late 2011 by specialized foreign investors in the production of alcoholic beverages (wines and spirits) who named Jean-Luc Parret as manager. A new CEO and winemaker was recruited, Mr Jean-François Farinet, formerly winemaker different houses of Roederer Group, to go one step further in the quality of wines produced by the estate. Significant investments are made both in the vineyard (14 hectares planting program over 2 years, policy complantation) than in buildings (renovation of the castle in 2013, expansion of caveaude sale and receipt in 2014) to strengthen the Château Saint-Martin-de-la Garrigue in its flagship position of the vineyards of Languedoc Today all these efforts are rewarded with international recognition, a cohesive, motivated and dynamic, which has only one objective: to maintain Saint Martin de la Garrigue at his best.
