The winemaker
The vineyards are planted on the slopes overlooking the right bank of the Tarn. The Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée vines cover 42 hectares. The Gaillac vineyard was one of the first to receive the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in 1936. The clay and clay-limestone soils of the first slopes provide finesse and elegance, while the gravelly soils and "boulbènes" of the lower slopes offer charm, fruit and power to the wines of Château de Saurs. The predominantly oceanic climate takes advantage of Mediterranean influences to bring alternating warmth and mild humidity, tempered by the Autan wind.
