The winemaker

Régis Valentin...Oenology graduate "When I was 20, I imagined I could make great wines whatever the quality of the grapes. I quickly realized the limits of technology and the importance of working in the vineyard". From disbudding to trellising to green harvesting, the vineyard's management is irreproachable, and its cultivation more than reasoned. From a multi-faceted terroir of limestone pebbles, marl, colluvium and alluvium, he strives to extract "the best". A go-getter, he puts "100%" into everything he does. Rides his mountain bike through the countryside. But he also settles down, thinks things over and chisels away in the cellar: "Tools in hand, I make do with what nature gives me, trying to improve all the time. His style? Crisp, fruity wines, "all freshness and balance". His credo? The stars in the Hachette guide that decorate his vintages don't make him lose his head either: "To create is a dream, to sell is a reality. Selling is a reality", says Régis Valentin.
