The winemaker

Château d'Oupia has been an integral part of the Iche family since 1860. Over 5 generations, the vineyard has been built and deconstructed to better sublimate its terroir. Among the winegrowers who have tilled this land, André Iche took part in its renewal in 1969. He brought in new grape varieties while preserving the oldest vines. André's and his ancestors' hard work paid off, and they were rewarded for the excellence of their wines, notably the cuvée Les Barons. In 1996, Marie-Pierre took over from her father and became the family's first winemaker. As a tribute to her father and his self-sacrifice for the estate, she dedicated a cuvée to him, "Mémoire d'André".
