The winemaker
The founding of the Maison du Vigneron
It has to be said that the Jura has earned its place in the French wine landscape thanks to people who are passionate about vines and wine. These men and women have succeeded in perpetuating a know-how that demonstrates all the qualities of this exceptional terroir. La Maison du Vigneron is no exception to the rule, working daily to raise the profile of the region. A true leader, the estate relies on its presence in leading AOCs to build on the image of quality that is its foundation. Speaking of foundations, let's go back to the 1980s for a moment. Crançot, a former commune in the Jura region, saw the creation of a new organization in 1981: La Compagnie des Grands Vins du Jura. Its aim was to develop and promote the exceptional wines of the Jura. Seeing the potential of this organization, the Les Grands Chais de France group bought it in 1986, eventually naming its new acquisition La Maison du Vigneron. In 1995, it became the first producer of Crémant du Jura, the new AOC introduced that same year. Over the years, La Maison du Vigneron has become one of the vineyard's leading houses. Sumptuous white wines, red wines, crémants, vins de paille and macvins are produced by the company, which attaches great importance to preserving ancestral viticultural practices as well as a certain know-how in winemaking.
The Maison du Vigneron estates and wines
It should be noted that Maison du Vigneron has three estates through which it produces wines: Domaine de Savagny, Domaine Quillot and Domaine Durand Perron. These estates are located in the world's most prestigious AOCs, including Côtes du Jura, Arbois, Château-Chalon (vin jaune), Macvin du Jura and Crémant du Jura. But that's not all: the company also vinifies grapes from a number of local growers. In fact, around a hundred winegrowers bring in their grapes, in full compliance with the various specifications. La Maison du Vigneron therefore has a major responsibility within the winegrowing region, bringing together the work of numerous winegrowers while ensuring precise traceability. Indeed, organization is paramount for this structure, which ensures that only the best grapes reach the winemaking stage. For the company, it's very simple: it sets the bar very high when it comes to quality. To achieve this, close collaboration with the harvesters is essential, on the 130 hectares of vines we cultivate. Once the grapes have been delivered, they are sent to the winery, where all the equipment necessary for the success of future cuvées is in place. La Maison du Vigneron is always at the cutting edge of technology, so all that's left to do is work its magic, and we can continue to enjoy extraordinary cuvées...
