The winemaker

The Grand estate decides to reduce its land to gain precision

Domaine Grand has existed since the 17th century, thanks to Antoine and Claudine Grand. It was made famous by the Grand brothers: Lothain, Dominique and Georges. In the 1970s, they expanded the estate to 25 hectares. Emmanuel Grand worked alongside his father and uncles for almost 20 years. In 2015, he inherited the estate on the death of his father. With his partner Nathalie, herself the daughter of winegrowers, they decided to reduce the size of the vineyard and begin conversion to organic farming for the 2021 vintage.

The Grand estate is run with a precise and efficient master hand

Emmanuel and Nathalie have reduced the size of the estate by more than half. Today, the couple manages 10 hectares of vines with rigor and a passion for the terroir. The soil is composed of three colors of marl and limestone. This allows the different grape varieties to flourish according to their specific characteristics. Red marl is a rare terroir for Chardonnay, while Savagnin is perfectly suited to gray marl. The choice of grape varieties is meticulous, and low-yielding varieties are favored to obtain grapes with concentrated aromas.

The wines of Domaine Grand celebrate the diversity of the Jura

.
The domaine's wines are spread across three appellations: Côtes-du-Jura, Château-Chalon and Arbois. The grape varieties grown (chardonnay, savagnin, trousseau and pinot noir) allow you to explore the panoply of Jura specialties. Crémant, vin de paille, vin jaune and macvin are not forgotten, and are even perfectly executed. The precision of Domaine Grand's winemaking methods results in very clean wines with a strong, vibrant character.
