The winemaker
In 1926, Henri Sellier, mayor of Suresnes, made buy an old quarry at a place called "Le Pas Saint-Maurice," to plant a municipal vineyard. This, unfortunately, fell into the abandoned for lack of care. In 1965, Etienne Lafourcade, Deputy Mayor, son of a Sauternois the cellar master, undertook a réencépagement noble grape varieties. Thus were planted on 70 acres, white grape varieties recommended by the best winemakers. In 1983, the new municipality, under the aegis of Christian Dupuy, undertook major investments for the development of the vineyard and cellar for better wine. The vine of Suresnes is classified protected site, preserving permanently. Taking advantage of moving the shooting range located in low-cons of the old vines, a modern winery was built on the site of the vine, which prevents any movement of the harvest. The containers, kinds of behaving, not "bachoues" as was the case in Suresnes, containing grapes are emptied by a chute in the horizontal press. The must is then fed to the fermentation in tanks 4 in number, stainless steel and 15 hectoliters each with water cooling. The winemaking is under the control of an oenology laboratory. The harvest year after year, between 35 and 60 hectoliters. In 2010, the vineyard has produced 5000 bottles, making Clos du Pas Saint-Maurice the largest vineyard in the Ile-de-France. The vine growing and wine making are provided by a professional winemaker. Today, the quality of wine helps reintegrate vine Suresnes in French vineyards.
