The history of the estate

The Orenga de Gaffory estate saw its history begin in 1967 when Pierre Orenga de Gaffory founded the estate in Corsica, on the shore of the Gulf of Saint Florent. Joined by his son Henri in 1974, Pierre worked to enhance the natural heritage and terroir of the vineyards. This sub-region quickly became one of the benchmarks for the Patrimonio AOC.

In 2016, the Orenga de Gaffory estate launched the conversion of its 56 hectares of vines to organic farming to mark its fiftieth anniversary.

According to Herin Orenga de Gaffory, "art and wine are a matter of perception, a sensual pleasure".

Terroir

The vineyards of Domaine Orenga de Gaffory flourish on predominantly clay-limestone soils, ranging from gravelly to schistous, depending on the plot. The specificity of these soils is quite interesting, producing fleshy, elegant wines that combine power and finesse.

The climate on the estate is temperate, with plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures, caressed by the Libecciu, a gentle, refreshing sea breeze.

Distributed between the communes of Patrimonio, Barbaggio, Saint-Florent, Oletta and Poggio d'Oletta, the vineyards benefit from a distribution of terroirs that produces complex blends in terms of both structure and aromas. In addition, there is a mix of young and old vines, as well as various local grape varieties such as Niellucciu, Vermentinu and Sciaccarellu, but also Grenache, Muscat à Petits Grains...

Wines

The Cuvée Felice offers a bright, limpid yellow color with green highlights. The nose gives off a bouquet of white fruit, spring flowers, and mint. The impression given by the nose is confirmed by a palate full of fruity notes of lemon and grapefruit, as well as iodine and salt. Beautiful freshness and minerality characterized by strong tension. Ideal with sweetbreads, blanquette, shellfish or a cheese platter.

Cuvée Patrimonio rosé is characterized by its pale pink color and its nose of small red fruits (redcurrant, raspberry...) as well as its discreet floral side. On the palate, the wine is round and fresh, with a velvety texture and a hint of acidity. Ideal with hot and cold starters, grilled mixed brochettes or grilled fish with herbs.

Cuvée Muscat du Cap Corse features a light golden color and a nose of candied citrus, honey and white flowers. There's also a hint of minerality and a long finish. Perfect with foie gras or blue-veined cheeses.

The Patrimonio blanc cuvée offers a nose blending both fruity (citrus) and floral (white flowers) notes. This is crowned by a minerality that gives the wine its complexity. Round, lively and long on the palate. This cuvée goes very well with a seafood platter, grilled fish or a cheese platter. It can also be enjoyed as an aperitif.
