The winemaker
The history of the estate
The history of Clos Canereccia began in 1970 when Pierre and Christian, his son-in-law, started to vinify their few hectares of vines in Aléria. Over time, the estate expanded, and plots of Merlot, Grenache and Syrah were planted.
The estate soon grew to 35 hectares, and the family tradition continued. Titi, Pierre's grandson, takes over the reins of the vineyard 40 years later, in 2010. His determination and hard work led him to buy new equipment and modernize the estate, in order to make his own wine and carry out the first vinifications on the estate.
The terroir
As the estate evolved, plots of Merlot were replaced by vines of Niellucciu, Sciaccarellu or Carcaghjolu Neru. The Vermentinu grape variety is also returning to the Clos Canereccia vineyards.
Since 2017, the estate's 9 hectares have gone organic. In concrete terms, Clos Canereccia prohibits the use of synthetic chemicals, the use of GMOs, and favors the recycling of organic matter as well as crop rotation.
At Le Clos Canereccia, we believe that to produce the best wines, the most faithful to their terroir, we must respect nature and its environment. In this way, endemic grape varieties and terroir can express themselves to the full. In the cellar, vinification is carried out as naturally as possible. For example, sulfite levels are low, and the wines are made without fining or filtering.
The wines
The wines produced by the domaine are expressive and characterful, in the image of Pierre and Christian, then Titi.
The Amphore Carcaghjolu Neru Rouge cuvée is 100% Carcaghloju. Its color is black cherry. The nose is harmonious and complex, with notes of sweet spices, ripe red fruit, spring maquis and laurel. On the palate, the wine is powerful and fruity, with mellow tannins.
