The winemaker
The history of Champagne Prestige des Sacres
It is now four generations since the Champagne Prestige des Sacres was born. In the 1960s, the winegrower René Lamblot wished to develop his terroir which extended over the western slopes of the Montagne de Reims. He then joined forces with a handful of winegrowers exploiting these same lands, in order to unite their forces, as well as their financial and material means, to create their own champagne.
The experiment bore fruit and, faced with the success of the enterprise, the wine growers were quickly joined by other local wine growers. Currently, there are about 60 champagne professionals who have joined the Champagne Prestige des Sacres association.
Their ambition is to continue the exploitation of the western slopes of the Montagne de Reims, passing on their know-how to the next generations and working the land with thoughtful and reasoned methods to produce the best grapes for making Champagne Prestige des Sacres.
The commitment of the winemakers
To join Champagne Prestige des Sacres, the winemakers commit to :- Adhere to the values of exchange and mutual aid ;
- adopt a reasoned viticulture in the respect of nature ;
- rigorously select their grapes to keep only the best and thus guarantee the constant quality of the blends;
- respect the expertise of the Cellar Master who sublimates the grapes;
- accept a time of aging in cellars and rest after disgorging beyond the requirements of the AOC Champagne.
The origin of the name Prestige des Sacres
The name Champagne Prestige des Sacres is a tribute to the kings of France. They were 33 to be crowned in Reims. Indeed, in the time of the kingdom of the Franks and then of France, the advent of the new king was legitimized by the ceremony of his coronation with the crown of Charlemagne in Notre Dame de Reims.The Champagne Prestige des Sacres vineyard
The vineyard of Champagne Prestige des Sacres covers 115 hectares located on the western slopes of the Montagne de Reims. It has a total of 40 crus, 5 of which are classified as Premier Cru.
The originality of Champagne Prestige des Sacres is to work on the great diversity of its supplies. Although they come from the same Montagne de Reims, the terroirs offer four typicities, as well as the three historical grape varieties of Champagne: Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir. The cellar master thus creates rich and varied blends.
