The winemaker
The Gamet house is a history of back and forth between two villages in Champagne: Mardeuil and Fleury River. Francois Gamet, from Fleury-la-Rivière down to his native village to help his grandmother, Victory on the farm and vineyard Mardeuil. He stayed to work and start a family! Philip, his son, was in Fleury-la-Rivière and met his future wife Fabienne, from a family of winemakers, too. Francis, the paternal grandfather, and Robert, the mother's father, working hard because the work of the vines are all-weather and mostly manually, with rudimentary tools. Robert then buys vineyard worker, with pride and courage to the time of vineyard land and plant it installs to enlarge its field and become your own boss! Philip, meanwhile, quickly joined his father after a few years of study at wine school Avize and is working also to clear new vineyard land on the steep slopes of Fleury-la-Rivière. It continues at the same time to take care of agricultural land in grain production. In 1992, Fabienne and Philippe melt together their own domain with the family property but also with the purchase of several pieces of vines. They create their own brand Champagne Philippe Gamet develop and operate both on the surface and from many bottles. They seek to improve their production tools, their ways of working and to improve or modernize their various vintages. Cropping patterns evolving with the planet, Gamet house is constantly changing. Switching to a high environmental value wine will open doors to ... Jean-François and Marianne, the next generation of Gamet! Their vines are planted on three villages: Mardeuil, Damery and Fleury-la-Rivière mainly Pinot Meunier (55%) and Pinot Black (35%), a few vines Chardonnay (10% of our vineyard). The soils are mechanically and we limit treatment. The majority of our vines are grassed. The harvest is manual and the average age of the vines is 30 years. Fine grapes give us good champagne!
