The winemaker
The history of Jacquart champagnes
Born in 1962 in Reims, the Jacquart cooperative remains, even today, a young house in the old Champagne region. It builds on this and aims to be the bearer of a "more relaxed" luxury. To be serious without taking itself too seriously, producing champagnes that reflect Jacquart's joy and good humor.
In 1998, the company joined Alliance Champagne, a group of Champagne cooperatives that includes Union Auboise (Champagne Veuve Devaux), Covama (Champagne Pannier) and Cogevi (Champagne Collet). Between them, they account for almost 10% of Champagne's vineyards, and aim for continuous improvement in production, both in terms of quality and sustainable viticulture.
Within this alliance, however, the four houses retain their independence and continue to operate their own brands.
A mosaic of terroirs
The great strength of Maison Jacquart is that it relies on a vast network of members who bring in grapes from the four corners of Champagne. This enables them to produce balanced wines of consistent quality every year, since they have access to grapes from over 60 different crus. In this way, she always manages to find a common thread running through her range of wines, so that enthusiasts always have the sensation of drinking a bottle of Jacquart.
A wide variety of Champagnes
This mosaic of terroirs has also given rise to one of the house's flagship cuvées: the Cuvée Mosaïque, which brings together the three great Champagne grape varieties (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier) in almost equal proportions.
The heart of the range, this cuvée is available in brut, extra-brut, demi-sec and rosé. There's a Mosaïque cuvée for every connoisseur, but all share the same quest for quality, notably through longer ageing in the cellar, giving these bottles greater complexity and depth. The fifth version of the Mosaïque cuvée is even aged for 5 years - compared with 3 for the "classics".
Then come the house's three exceptional cuvées. Alpha Brut, Blanc and Rosé, two cuvées made exclusively from Premier and Grand Crus. And the house's flagship, the blanc de blancs millésimés, made exclusively from Côte des Blancs grands crus.
