The winemaker

The Story

It was in 1837 that Henri-Marc de Venoge created De Venoge et Cie, with his son Joseph. He then produced the first vintages of the Venoge House and also created the first label with illustration in the history of Champagne.

The first exports took place in 1866 towards the United States, at the initiative of Joseph's son, Gaëtan de Venoge. In 1876, he won the first great distinction of the House "the Grand Prix d'Excellence" at the Philadelphia World's Fair.

From 1898 onwards, Gaëtan's daughter and her husband made the House of Venoge known among the great European aristocracy and developed its prestige. Since 1998, the Champagne de Venoge has been part of the Boizel Chanoine Champagne group. The House of Venoge has one of the richest wine libraries of Champagne, with vintages of 20 years and more, intended for the finest connoisseurs.

The Venoge champagnes

The Cordon Bleu Cuvée

It is blended with a dominant of Pinot Noir. It is a fresh champagne with fine aromas. The cuvée is available in several champagnes: the Cordon Bleu Brut, the Cordon Bleu extra brut, the Cordon Bleu brut rosé and the Cordon Bleu Blanc de Noir. The latter is the first champagne produced only from black grapes. With its original aromas of lemon, blackcurrant and aniseed, it is a powerful and ample wine.

The Princes Cuvée

It is produced from a rigorous selection of grains in the best vintages. It has existed since 1864 and was created by Joseph de Venoge. Its elegant bottle is reminiscent of the crystal decanters used by European aristocrats in the early 20th century to decant champagne. Four Princes cuvées are produced: "Princes blanc de noirs" (pinot noir), "princes extra brut", "princes rosé" and "Princes blanc de blancs". This cuvée is made from a blend of Chardonnay grapes only.

The Louis XV cuvées

These are Prestige cuvées. The cuvée was named in honor of King Louis XV, who in 1728 authorized the transportation of only Champagne wines in bottles. This decision gave birth to Champagne as we know it, thanks to the froth taking place in the bottle. All the know-how of the Maison de Venoge is found in this exceptional Champagne, produced from Grands Crus only. This wine is available in two vintages, Louis XV rosé or Louis XV brut.
