History


In the 1960s, Champagne winemakers sought to improve the quality of the wines wines they produced. To do this, they had to find new techniques, new tools and new and new skills... And what better way than for winegrowers to help each other? At least, that's fifty winegrowers have come together to share their knowledge. knowledge. In 1962, Champagne Barfontarc was born!

These winegrowers come from several communes in the region, including Baroville, Fontaine and Arconville on the Côte des Bar. These names may mean nothing to you and yet there's an air of déjà-vu about them... To find a name that would appeal to all the cooperative's managers decided to get the communes talking. We Bar" for Baronville, "Fon" for Fontaine and "Arc" for Arconville, giving us Barfontarc. which gives us Barfontarc.

Together, for more than 60 years, they have made their terroirs speak for themselves. to amaze the most passionate tasters. During these few decades, they have production processes. In the past, the cooperative was primarily a pressing center, but later became a brand in its own right, whose products products can be enjoyed under the name "de Barfontarc".

A family-run cooperative


This cooperative is represented by 53 winegrower-members working on around 110 hectares. Located on a terroir perfect for pinot noir, the winegrowers have planted pinot noir on on 90% of their land, leaving only 10% for Chardonnay.

Using state-of-the-art equipment, our protagonists express the full quality of pinot noir. Moreover, after the various stages of vinification, the ageing process is also well 2 years in bottle for "classic" champagnes and 6 years for vintage champagnes. for vintage champagnes.
