The winemaker

The history of Champagne Chassenay d'Arce

Champagne Chassenay d'Arce was founded by 5 winemakers in 1956. The aim was to pool material resources and know-how, and to work in a spirit of solidarity and cooperation. The alchemy worked well, and today the Chassenay d'Arce Champagne House counts 130 families belonging to three generations of winegrowers.

The vineyards of Champagne Chassenay d'Arce

The vineyards of Champagne Chassenay d'Arce cover 315 hectares. The vineyards belong to 12 communes spread along the Arce river. Forests complete the enchanting landscape.

Most of the vines are Pinot Noir. Complementary grape varieties include Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Blanc, an ancient Champagne variety.

The terroir of the Côte des Bar

All champagnes from the de Chassenay d'Arce house belong to the Côte des Bar. It lies in the south of the Champagne region, very close to Burgundy. The climate is very mild. The sunshine is generous and the rainfall plentiful enough to satisfy the vines all year round.

The Kimmeridgian soil, made up of stony marl, enables the vines to root very deeply in search of nutrients and water.
