The winemaker

Eight generations have succeeded one another to make Charpentier champagnes the great champagne house it is today. Today, it is directed by Jean Marc Charpentier and produces rosé and white champagnes with AOC status.

A historical vineyard

The 24 hectare vineyard is made up of a mosaic of 72 plots located in the Marne Valley in Charly sur Marne. The vineyard is atypical, with almost half of Chardonnay, the rest of the rows are planted with Pinot noir and Pinot Meunier.

The history of the Charpentier family begins in 1855 with Prosper, the family's first winemaker, and continues today with Jean Marc who runs the estate. Considered as a humanist winemaker, Jean Marc Charpentier is also an audacious agronomist. Passionate about the work of the vine, rigorous, he is attached to work well done and works with respect for the earth and men, in a desire to share. He has been running his estate according to biodynamic principles since 2009 and has begun a conversion to organic farming.

The viticultural know-how implemented

The family works with respect to ancient traditions, using the know-how passed down from generation to generation, but has also been able to open up to technical developments. This subtle balance between tradition and modernity has allowed them to improve the quality of the champagnes, to preserve this exceptional terroir and to continue the development of the estate.

Thus, for the past 15 years, the team has been working in parcel-based vinification to sublimate the richness and variety of the terroir. It has also been able to develop its commercial structure and build a solid network of distributors to make Charpentier champagnes known.

The champagnes

The range proposed by the House of Champagne Carpentier is declined between three collections, the champagnes tradition, Terre d'émotion and the ephemeral vintages.

The tradition cuvées fully express the beauty of these terroirs of the Marne Valley and the typicity of the Pinot Meunier from which they are made. They are fine, balanced and fruity champagnes, perfect to accompany festive moments or to sublimate more simple moments. In the tradition collection, the Charpentier house offers the Tradition Brut, a fresh champagne with marked fruity aromas, the Millésime Act, a fine and delicate cuvée, with an aromatic bouquet offering an intense fruitiness and the Rosé Brut, a greedy and sensual rosé ideal for the evenings of celebration.

Terre d'émotion is a range of Great Champagnes, which reveals all the know-how of winemaker Jean Marc Charpentier. Terre d'émotion Brut Vérité is a great success, a pure champagne with the typical flavors of this terroir. Terre d'émotion blanc de blancs is a 100% Chardonnay champagne from a limestone and flint terroir. It is an atypical wine, with mineral notes. In the collection, the producer also offers a Blanc de noirs extra brut, a racy champagne, with a fresh and intense mouth. Terre d'émotion is finally available in rosé with a harmonious and fresh cuvée, perfect as an aperitif.

The Charpentier house also offers ephemeral cuvées, elaborated according to the inspiration of the year and research aimed at offering unique champagnes. These great champagnes are produced in limited editions, such as the Pinot Meunier Zero Dosage, with only 3508 bottles produced and the Art IF Ice cuvée, a semi-dry dosage, an unconventional but very successful fresh champagne.
