The winemaker

The Charles Collin Champagne house was founded in 1952 on the Côte des Bars. Today, it brings together more than 140 winemakers, sharing the same passion and the same desire to produce exceptional cuvées. It offers a complete range of champagnes, so you can find the right bottle for every occasion.

The estate

The vineyard covers 330 hectares. Two grape varieties are planted. Pinot Noir is the majority grape variety, present on over 90% of the land, the rest is planted with Chardonnay. The estate obtained ISO 22000 certification in 2012.

The estate's extensive facilities provide winegrowers with a high-performance work tool. This means they can control every stage of production, from cultivating and tending the vines to working in the cellar to vinify, age and bottle their wines. The consistency of production is ensured by the supervision of the cellar master, who creates cuvées that meet the house's exacting standards and are acclaimed by the critics.

Skills

The grapes are harvested by hand and the juice is then extracted using pneumatic presses. Vinification takes place in thermo-regulated steel vats. Cuvées are blended and bottled after 6 to 8 months in vats. The bottles are then aged for 3 to 5 years in the cellar for the prise de mousse, i.e. the second fermentation.

Overall production reaches 3 million bottles each year. Two-thirds are sold as vins clairs, and only a third are bottled under the Charles Collin label. The champagnes are then distributed in France, Europe, North America and Asia.

The Champagnes

The Charles Collin brand offers a complete collection of champagnes.

Le Brut is made from a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay. This champagne has a beautiful pale gold color and a fruity nose with notes of figs and spices. The palate is fresh and balanced, with hints of white flowers.

The demi-sec has only 5% Chardonnay, the rest is Pinot Noir. This is a gourmand, intense champagne with a fruity aromatic palette dominated by apricot and mirabelle plum. The palate offers dried fruit flavors.

The rosé brut is a 100% Pinot Noir blended with 10% red wine. The bubbles are fine and the deep pink color catches the eye. It's a fruity champagne, both powerful and fresh.

La cuvée Charles brut is very expressive with fine bubbles and a beautiful aromatic palette blending citrus, flowers, spices and honey. It's the perfect champagne to celebrate life's beautiful moments.

La cuvée Belle Gabrielle is blended with 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir. It is aged for 5 years in the cellar to then offer its full potential. The nose is delicate, with buttery nuances of brioche and citrus aromas. The palate is fresh, with a lovely bouquet of honey, hazelnut and apricot.
