Champagne Augustin: an atypical journey


Augustin Champagne was created by winemakers with atypical ideas. It was created by Andrée LEFEVRE at the beginning of the 20th century. The great-grandmother of the current owner took the decision to transform her grape harvest into champagne, thus making an independent cuvée. Later, in the 70s, Jean Augustin rejected chemical advances in agriculture and continued to cultivate his vines organically. Today, Marc Augustin continues his father's work, taking biodynamic viticulture a step further.

Champagne Augustin: an exceptional terroir


Located in Avenay Val d'Or, Augustin Champagne benefits from two quality terroirs: the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, . The former boasts ideal vine-growing soil (chalk, clay, sand and limestone) and an exceptional climate to optimize vine growth, with enough sunshine despite its northerly location. The second is a small terroir of international renown: it's also the source of great Chardonnays.

When you taste an Augustin champagne, you'll find characteristics similar to the elements of Nature. For example, the Champagne brut cuvée feu brings warmth and spiciness to the palate with its 100% pinot noir grapes from old vines. Augustin's must-have Champagne is undoubtedly Cuvée 116, whose all-Chardonnay composition makes for a more gourmet tasting experience.
