The winemaker
A history of fervor and constancy at Domaine Agrapart
The Maison Agrapart adventure dates back to the end of the 19th century. The estate was founded at that time by Arthur Agrapart, who initiated a strong winemaking tradition based on the "récoltant manipulant" technique. The estate's growth was nevertheless slowed by the hazards of war (between 1914 and 1918). Fortunately, around the 1950s, the vineyard experienced a major revival thanks to the purchase of new vines and the refurbishment of the estate. At the same time, its reputation grew, and the Agrapart brand became an important label in the Champagne region. Expansion of the estate consolidated this popularity in the 1980s.
Maison Agrapart: quality vineyards and artisanal winemaking
The Domaine Agrapart vineyard covers almost 10 hectares spread around the Côte des Blancs in the Marne. The chalky soil is specific to the region. This soil lends itself ideally to the cultivation of Chardonnay, an emblematic grape variety renowned for imparting freshness and lightness to sparkling wines. Since 1995, Domaine Agrapart has decided to parcel out its cuvées, dividing its terroir into three categories. The vineyard thus boasts predominantly clay soils; a second terroir dominated by limestone and finally predominantly clay-limestone soils.
The estate's plots are planted with Pinot noir as a red grape variety and Chardonnay as a white grape variety. The average age of the vines is 35 to 40 years, and the grapes are harvested by hand. The estate's Grands Crus are produced using traditional methods of cultivation and vinification. The champagnes are vinified in old barrels. At the end of the maturation process, they present persistent flavors with elegant, fine bubbles.
Domain Agrapart wines: Grands Crus crafted with care and passion
Domaine Agrapart produces a wide range of sparkling wines and presents a magnificent collection of Premiers and Grands Crus. The "Terroirs Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs" is an excellent champagne whose purity and perfume are major assets. It also seduces with its excellent aromas of light lemon, grapefruit and fresh walnuts. Grand Cru Minéral Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs 1998 has a silky gold-green color. It is a wine of finesse, with an alcohol content of 12%. Aged on lees for 5 years, then stirred by hand, this wine also has a very fine cordon. It can be drunk or kept for a long time. In its selection of Grands Crus, Domaine Agrapart also presents L'Avizoise Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs 2004: a mineral expression fully supported by exceptionally fine, creamy bubbles.
