The winemaker

1974 was a year of great happiness, as first Lydie Taluau inherited a hectare of vines to vinify, which she decided to share with her partner Max Cognard, and what's more, Estelle Cognard was born that same year. The company Lydie & Max Cognard was also created. To set himself apart, Max Cognard chose to name his first cuvée Les Malgagnes, (a name derived from the parcel) and not to follow the fashion for "young & old vines". Four years later, Rodolphe, the future winemaker, was born. In 1985, Lydie & Max Cognard began innovating by building an air-conditioned cellar to prevent the wine from overheating in summer, and by installing stainless steel vats. In addition, the vineyard extended to 7ha. It was Estelle Cognard who, in 1997, decided to gradually take over the family business, the winegrowing family investing in thermo regulation. In 2001, Rodolphe Cognard joined the family business. At the same time, the old cellars were renovated into a tasting room. In 2010, as wine production grew, a storage cellar with a stable year-round temperature of 12-15°C and a shed were built. Today, the vineyard covers 13 ha.
