The winemaker
A recent and already admirable history
Celine and Antoine Angst's winemaking adventure began in 2009. Both of them do not come from winemaking families and their conversion is the result of unparalleled passion and determination. They prove that being a winemaker is not always linked to a family tradition.
They produce today on 8 hectares of vines a wide range of wines: Chablis, Chablis Premiers Crus, Petit-Chablis, Bourgogne Blanc and Rosé, Irancy and Crémant de Bourgogne.
Angst Winery aspires to enhance the Burgundian terroir and share its best. Conviviality and love of the terroir are the watchwords of the domain!
Antoine has always dreamed of becoming a winemaker. It is therefore natural that he studied agriculture and obtained a viticultural license, ensuring him an impeccable knowledge of the culture of the vine. Before creating his own vineyard, he worked for 16 years as a technical salesman in Chablis. In 2009, he vinified his own Burgundy wines for the first time.
In 2013, Antoine and Céline took over a winery located in the village of Courgis, in the heart of the Chablis vineyard where they bought and rented plots in order to form their own estate.
Céline, then a pharmacy assistant, helps Antoine when she has the time. Soon after, she left her job to devote herself entirely to the development of the estate. At the same time, she obtained a university degree in oenology.
The vineyard
The estate's vineyards are spread over several villages in the Chablis and Grand Auxerrois vineyards, including Chablis and Courgis. True to the Burgundian tradition, the Angst vineyard grows Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Aligoté.
Antoine and Celine have been working in organic farming since 2020 and the estate is also labeled High Environmental Value Level 3. Indeed, the couple is keen to ensure that their wines are the most accurate expression of the Burgundian vines and terroir possible.
On site, Celine and Antoine offer a tour of the vineyard that begins with a discovery of Pontigny Abbey, the largest Cistercian abbey in the world followed by a tasting at the estate.
The Angst vineyard is labeled Vignobles et Découvertes, guaranteeing visitors a warm and personalized welcome, a tasting, information and advice on the appellations marketed and the Burgundy vineyard.
The wines
The 2014 Chablis, the Angst vineyard's first vintage, earned a Hachette star and marked a first success for the estate. And this one bodes well for the future...
The buttery, spicy nose of Chablis is warm. The mouth, round and rich, brings a nice fruity touch.
The Irancy 100% Pinot Noir with its morello cherry nose is delicate and elegant on the palate
The Pinot Noir rosé is aromatic and gourmand, a refined explosion of flavors!
Finesse, distinction and expression, suppleness and roundness best describe the wines of Angst Vineyard.
